Dear Friends,

We will be doing an outreach program on the 8th of March 2014 which is our most ambitious and farthest program we are going to embark on.  We will be adopting a barangay (kampong) which was affected by Typhoon Haiyan (PAGASA name: Yolanda).

I, together with a group of friends in SG, are planning to spearhead the outreach program and go to Barangay Apitong, Tacloban City which is approximately 360 miles (580 km) southeast of Manila.  This is the first time we are moving out of Luzon so we are foreseeing that logistics for the goods and the people will be challenging.

As of now, we are thinking of hosting a short program for everyone’s enjoyment together with humble snacks.  We will also be giving hygiene kits, school supplies, food, medical items and pedicabs (this is to create a livelihood program for the victims).  Initial estimated cost is itemized below:

SGD

Hygiene Kit for Adults:

This is the group’s 4th outreach program in the Philippines since the group was established and this is the 1st outreach program for this year.  We are hoping for your support in the success of this project.

The past three outreach programs were:

a. “Beeda Ka Kid!” An Outreach Program with the special participation of Jollibee for the Cancer Patient Children at CHILD Haus, Quezon City last Aug 12, 2012.

b. “Project Mountain Alphabet” A Book Giving Project with volunteers from Thomson Reuters at Colalo Elementary School, Benguet last March 10, 2013 where we have donated new and used books, school supplies, hygiene kits and snacks; and donated some cash for buying the construction materials for the renovation of their library.

c. In October 6, 2012, there was a small team from our group who spent the afternoon with the elders in Missionaries of Charity Gift of Love Home at Boon Lay Avenue, Singapore which inspired us to do an outreach program for our elders in the Philippines.  So we went to Sinag Kalinga, a Non-Government Organization, which has been providing the essential needs of the homeless, abandoned and destitute since 1995 in Lucban, Quezon last Sept 21, 2013 inspite of the storm warnings and brought happiness and smile to 26 lolos (grandpas) and lolas (grandmas).

Again, we are hoping for your support and kind generosity in order to make this project a success that even for just a day we can make a difference in the lives of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
