Taking the First Step to SGX Investing

Taking the First Step to SGX Investing

Yehey! Admiring the view after attending the DBS Vickers sponsored training about their trading platform.  It’s a breath of fresh air to see the city on a weekday given that I live in a province in the West side called Jurong West.☺

I have taken this first step to get to know DBS Vickers trading platform & to start exploring investing in stocks or ETF in Singapore, my second home.

I felt like a fish out of water because I look underdressed compared to the city workers wearing long sleeves & slacks.

I also got a wee bit lost going to the venue given I am not familiar with the Financial District.

Aside from that, I thought the training will cover investing in SG for newbies like how to open an account.

To make my trip to town my fruitful, I talked to the DBS sales rep to help me understand how to invest in SG.

It’s not as straightforward as PH where you only open an account with an online broker & trading platform like COL.  But now at least I’ve got a clearer picture.

I plan to open the CDP & DBS Vickers accounts next week as anyway I am attending their ETF Investing Seminar next week.

Thanks DBS Vickers for the nice dinner & enlightening me on how to start investing in SG ☺  See you on the 28th of March hopefully with a nice tea break or lunch hahaha πŸ™‚

  1. Hi Weng,
Is this a free training/seminar? How would you know events like this? What is CDP? I would also like to invest here in Sg.
    Thanks for your response 😊

    1. Hi Mavic,
The seminar is free. I just found the seminar schedule in DBS website. There is a seminar on Sat am re ETF. DBS Vickers is one of the trading platforms/brokers you can use but in order to trade in SG market you need to have a CDP account. One of the readers told me to explore using Standard Chartered as their fees are cheaper vs DBS Vickers so it is more suitable for newbies. πŸ™‚
